Howard Rose began his career as an assistant cameraman in episodic television and on feature films. His most rewarding influence was with Academy Award-winning Director of Photography John Seale. They worked together on such noted features as “Rain Man” and “Dead Poets Society”.
Howard Rose then turned to the commercial world assisting and operating on spots directed by David Fincher, Joe Pytka and Gore Verbinski. He soon elevated himself to Director of Photography and shortly thereafter to Director. Howard signed on a commercial director for Crossroads Films in NY/CHI/LA. He has since helmed spots for advertising agencies such as DDB Needham, Draft, FCB, Grey Advertising, Y&R Group, Olgivay & Mather, Bates USA, Campbell Mithun Esty, Leo Burnett and many more. He has also shot numerous television promos for the FOX and ABC networks.
The experience of hard work, dedication and understanding the technical aspects of the film process along with the gift of storytelling and performance can be seen in Rose’s work. Howard has had a unique opportunity for learning by working alongside many accomplished and respected directors. He carries that knowledge and work ethic into every directing assignment. Howard Rose is a true craftsman. Howard resides in Malibu, California with his wife Karen and son Sam.
